The people of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City are so grateful to Representative JV Ejercito and to the City Government of San Juan headed by Mayor Guia Gomez and likewise to JCI San Juan Pinaglabanan for the help that was extended to the victims of typhoon Sendong . Last Friday, February 10, 2012, Rep.JV visited CDO and Iligan City for the 3rd time after typhoon Sendong, with him was some Jaycees San Juan Pinaglabanan chapter headed by Pres.Diosa Mauricio-Llave to personally turn-over the cash donations. The amounts was the earnings of Cong.JV’s initiative benefit concert which was held at the San Juan Arena last January 19,2012 amounting to P2 million pesos. Aside from the cash donations, he visited several relocation areas, distributed foam matresses, slippers, clothes and food. Likewise, donations to different organizations undertaking housing for the victims were also given. To quote the lawmaker, he said “ Just returning the favor to the people of Northern Mindanao who have always supported our family through the years. Now that they are the ones in need, its the time we now extend our hand to help “.
Mayor Vicente Emano of Cagayan de Oro receives the P1-million donation as well as Iligan city Congressman Vicente “Varf” Belmonte and Mayor Lawrence Cruz also receives the P1-million donation from San Juan Representative Joseph Victor Ejercito. Cong JV also gave P300,000 cash donation to help fund the construction of Xavier Ecoville and another P300,000 for Gawad Kalinga. And being a past national president of Junior Chamber International (JCI) and now JCI Senator, he also gave monetary assistance to the local JCI under Bai Lawanen that would be used to put up a memorial marker at the Gaston Park in memory of those who perished during the flood. And to Rep.JV, it is very much worth it because he believes that SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS THE BEST WORK OF LIFE. ( Catherine Gonzales-Morado )
